Using your 5 senses to maximise the effect of Self Hypnosis for Weight Loss
Eating should be a multi-sensory experience that must not be reduced or diminished in any way when one is trying to lose weight. On the contrary! We should enjoy all our meals using all five our senses.
Imagine walking past the bakery, early on a crisp winter morning. The seductive smell of fresh-from-the-oven bread, steam still rising from it...
Bread so fresh, so hot that you can barely hold onto it to cut through the crunchy crust...
...and finally, the voluptuous taste of real butter melting slowly into that first long-awaited, heavenly bite...
Does that make your mouth water? Feel hungry? Your mind influences your body in subtle but powerful ways. Self-hypnosis works just as subtly and powerfully, but much more safely.YOU are always consciously in control.
Could you give up bread and real, melt-in-the-mouth butter for the rest of your life?
You don't have to. You can have your bread AND eat it.
With Self-Hypnosis.
We all prefer to use one of our five senses to make sense of the world around us. Most people are visually orientated (they tend to store pictures and films as memories and will "see your point");
a few are auditory inclined (they tend to focus on what they hear: voices, music or irritating sounds and will say that your message is as "clear as a bell");
and a very small percentage is more disposed towards kinaesthetic/tactile interpretations of reality (they feel you need to"get a grip" and is sensitive to atmospheres and textures).
That does not mean that we ignore our non-dominant senses. We just pay less attention to the information they provide us with.
The
Papillon Program
e-course includes an easy but very accurate questionnaire to help you determine your preferred perceptual sense. Knowing your preference is essential, it will increase your enjoyment of your food tenfold- very helpful when you are reducing portion sizes.
If you are visual, the sight of the food on your plate, even the visual quality of the menu beforehand makes a big difference to what your taste buds register. The environment too-where you eat,and what and who you see while you eat, can improve the taste of your food considerably.
Smell and taste is rarely dominant. However, most grands chefs are gustatory interpreters, and more parfumiers are dominant olfactory.
And then, of course there are the two additional, complementary senses involved in the eating experience: sense of humour and common sense.
Eating should be a joy! Never an obsession or a chore. No foods should be barred; you’ll just get a craving for them and end up binging on every thing in sight.
Chocolate addiction?
Adding your favourite sound or music when you record your hypnotic script can make it much more powerful. However, if you are auditory, it can treble its effectiveness...or make it completely useless, if the background sound irritates you.
Tactile communicators can increase the power of self hypnosis for weight loss by playing with an object like a crystal. Choose the type of crystal according to the mood you want to create - rose quartz, for example, is relaxing. Or you can move about while you listen to your hypnotic script. Walking as exercise is especially effective.
Visuals should add visualisation,colours or hypnotic spirals to their self hypnosis for weight loss sessions. Staring at a large patch of bright orange before you exercise can be very motivating, as orange is an energising colour.
Remember my freshly baked bread story? Aromas and perfumes influence us with our realising it. What do you associate with the smell of lavender? freshly-brewed coffee? honeysuckle? Aromatherapy is based on our sense of smell.
And taste? Think chocolate addiction. Need I say more?
AS you can see...sorry, hear/feel, knowing which sense is your favourite can be very useful indeed. You can use this knowledge to strengthen our hypnosis experience...or you can use it as a form of aversion therapy.
If you wonder which is YOUR dominant sense, you can find out exactly by taking the questionnaire in the
Papillon weight loss Program.
