How can hypnosis help me eat a healthy balanced diet?

By practising self-hypnosis you use the power of your own imagination to heal your body and to change your eating habits permanently.

A Country Garden in the Spring

Imagine a lush, spring-time country garden.

Or a landscaped park in the city.

Or even a carefully tended window box on a windowsill. Frequently visited by birds, bees and butterflies, you can just about hear them chirping and buzzing away.

Imagine the smell of freshly turned turf after spring rain, the perfume of various flowers blooming their hearts out.

Or a windswept garden by the seaside, full of ingenious, persevering plants...you can nearly taste the sea salt on your tongue.

If the garden is thriving and beautiful, then there exists balance and harmony in it. The right type of soil, the right amount of nutrients and minerals, natural pest control and companion planting, the right amount of water and sun, in the perfect combination makes it flourish.

The garden will suffer if the sun is too harsh,or if too many pesticides and insecticides are used or if it rains too little or too often.

If the garden is not carefully tended and weeds are allowed to invade it...if it doesn't get enough compost, the garden will fail to thrive, and may even perish.

When we create and tend our beautiful gardens, we do not think twice about lavishing all the care, time and expense necessary. We ensure that that garden receives all that it needs, and in the right proportions. We set up automatic watering systems, carefully measure the soil's pH, read up on companion planting, study garden design....

All right, I know not everyone is as fanatical about gardening as I am...the point is: If we are willing to spend all this time and attention looking after our gardens, why do we neglect our bodies so badly? Doesn't it make sense to feed and water and rest our bodies as carefully as we tend our gardens?

Your Inner Garden

We expect our body to cope with whatever we throw at it or into it, indefinitely. We eat rubbish. We do not get any exercise. We are overstressed and under-rested. Why are we then surprised if nasty diseases rear their heads sooner rather than later?

My mother died of breast Ca many years ago, so when my friend Anne McManus, who stands in for my mother, got the same disease with the same staging, I was ready to give up. Not her, though. She decided to fight it by natural means, mostly diet, and has kept it at bay for many years now, despite bone mets.

For me, as a doctor, it was a frustrating but enriching experience.

A woman needs a daily calorie intake of roughly 2000 calories. This figure applies to adults who lead modern, sedentary lives, so if you are active, allow a little more.

We need approximately 60% carbohydrates, 30% fat and 10% protein within our daily calorie allowance. There are also a number of essential vitamins and minerals that we also must have.

Instant Weight Loss

In order to lose weight you need to eat less calories per day than your body needs.

To lose 1lb a week you need to reduce your intake by 500 calories per day. You should never lose weight too fast, aim for a maximum of 1,5 lb per week. Be patient and determined. Tend your body like you would tend your garden. Concentrate on eating healthily and getting enough exercise and rest. Reduce your stress levels. Listen to your body when it complains.

There really is NO secret, magical path to instant weight loss.

Hypnosis helps to keep you motivated and helps you persevere. I use hypnotherapy and self-hypnosis extensively in my practice. It is extremely useful for weight management and stress reduction.

Diets fail; hypnosis succeeds. Dieting brings about the starvation reflex which leads to overeating and obesity. Hypnosis generates satisfaction which leads to relaxation and a slim, healthy, attractive body.

That is why I recommend the Papillon weight loss Program.

And why am I qualified to give advice about a healthy balanced diet?
